Dr. Garth Miller is Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has over 20 years of experience practicing general surgery. He is qualified to practice the full spectrum of general surgery. He has particular experience and interest in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of the following conditions:
1. Disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. This includes
acid reflux (GERD), stomach ulcers, gall bladder disease,
and tumors of the GI tract.
2. Colon and rectal disorders, including polyps, cancer,
inflammatory bowel disease, and diverticular disease.
3. Breast diseases, including cancer.
4. Abdominal wall problems, including hernias.
5. Skin cancers, including melanoma.
6. Anorectal disorders, including hermorrhoids, fissures,
and tumors.
7. Varicose veins.
8. Undesired fertility in men (vasectomy)
9. Screening for colon cancer (colonoscopy)
He utilizes the latest minimally invasive techniques to minimize discomfort and
disability following surgery, by using endoscopic and laparoscopic techniques whenever possible. Approximately 90% of his hospital procedures are performed using these techniques.
He has additional interest and experience in the surgical treatment of cancer patients, especially breast, colon & rectal, and skin cancers. He has been the chairman of the Lincoln County Health Care Tumor Conference for over 15 years. He uses minimally invasive techniques whenever possible to treat these conditions as well.
He attempts to manage patients in the most cost effective manner possible, minimizing discomfort, cost, time in the hospital, and time away from work, school or other normal activities, while maintaining quality and comfort. He performs many procedures in his office, including vasectomy, removal of skin lesions, and hemorrhoid band ligation (a minimally invasive treatment for hemorrhoids).
Finally, he has extensive experience in vascular and thoracic surgery, but currently limits this aspect of his practice to the surgical treatment of varicose veins and vascular access procedures.
